During the XVII Ural mining decade has passed rewarding ceremony of the Second International Winter School "Young Geologist". It was carried out as part of the ERASMUS + MINERAL project “Modernization of geological education in Russian and Vietnamese universities.”
Over the course of two weeks, over 60 schoolchildren and students from all over the world listened to video lectures by scientists and specialists from leading technical universities in English: University of Turin (Italy), Leoben Mining University (Austria), Graduate University of sciense and techonology, Hanoi Mining and Geological University (Vietnam), Ural State Mining University, South-Russian State Polytechnic University named after M.I. Platov, National Research Technological University "MISiS", North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute. The project coordinator is the oldest technical university in Europe - Freiberg Mining Academy (Germany).
The site of the Ural State Mining University united the largest number of participants - 40 people. The winter school was held in a remote format: young geologists could watch lectures and complete control tasks in any place convenient for themselves. At the end of the course, they received international certificates.
“The winter school gives students the opportunity to enter the global educational space and the global geological community: not only to gain knowledge, but also to get acquainted with the experience of partner universities,” said Vladislav Belyaev, curator of the project at URSMU.
Head of international operations management USRMU Anastasia Pleshakova introduced the winners of the various programs of academic mobility, which offer Chinese and Turkish universities for students of the Ural mountain.
